Explore a terrain-based 3D globe with LLA navigation, camera telemetry, coordinate picking, UTC time control, and recent earthquake visualization.
Enter latitude, longitude, and altitude to fly directly to a location on the terrain-based globe. The Fly to Location action uses a guided camera transition, while the sample-location list provides quick access to cities, landmarks, mountains, coastlines, and other geographic reference points without requiring manual coordinate entry.
The Camera HUD reports the current latitude, longitude, ellipsoid altitude, heading, pitch, and viewing direction. Click or tap the terrain to inspect a position, read its picked coordinates and altitude, and view the distance from the camera to that point. These readouts remain separate from the coordinate inputs used for navigation.
Use Real Time for the current UTC simulation or choose Custom Time to inspect the globe under a selected date and time. Time selection updates the simulated sun and moon positions and globe lighting. The optional Earthquakes layer supports the current USGS live feed and user-requested historical UTC searches with magnitude-based markers, timeline summaries, horizon-aware visibility, reported depth, a true-scale depth guide, and a selected hypocenter marker.
This Binnode geospatial web experiment combines terrain-based globe rendering, LLA coordinate navigation, custom camera controls, camera telemetry, coordinate picking, picked-point distance, UTC time control, and geospatial data visualization in one browser application. The interface supports desktop and mobile exploration while keeping the interactive 3D view central. Visit the Binnode homepage for more real-time simulation, spatial computing, and visualization experiments.
